柏 (kashiwa) "meşe" + 手 (te[1]) "el, metot". El çırpma. Şintō'da kamilerin dikkatini çekme amaçlı olup bazı dōjōlarda antrenman başı ve sonundaki selamlamada yapılan alkış. Suwari waza ryōte dori kote gaeshi tekniğinde ve belki başka tekniklerde rakibin tutuşundan kurtulmak amacıyla iki el alkışlar gibi birleştirme için de kullanılan ifadedir.
Explanation:
柏 (kashiwa) "oak" + 手 (te[1]) "hand, method". Hand clap. The Shintō practice of clapping the hands in front of the kamidana to calling out the kami. This is practiced in some dōjōs at the beginning and the end of classes. Also used for bringing the hands together as if clapping to escape from the opponent's grab in suwari waza ryōte dori kote gaeshi and alike techniques.
